Sam Allardyce Leaves His Position as England Manager after One Match in Charge

The Football Association (FA) has announced that Sam Allardyce has lost his job as England boss just after 67 days in charge. The news broke out on Tuesday evening, 27 September 2016, after Allardyce and his FA bosses had a meeting over accusations that he debated how to circumvent rules on player transfers while speaking to undercover Daily Telegraph journalists.

The former Sunderland boss was appointed to his dream job in late July this year and leaves by reciprocal agreement just 67 days in charge and only one game on his record.

Gareth Southgate, England U/21 boss, has been appointed as interim manager for the next four games, starting with the World Cup qualifying matches against Slovenia and Malta next month.

The 61-year-old’s conduct, as reported today, was inappropriate. Allardyce accepted that he made an error of ruling and has apologised. However, due to serious nature of his behaviour, Allardyce and the FA have equally agreed to terminate his contract with immediate effect.
