Q&A: Three Common Casino Myths – Busted!

Is it true that a slot machine that has not paid out for a long time is due to pay out soon? Should online casinos be trusted? Do casinos start rigging games when players win too much?

Is it true that a slot machine that has not paid out for a long time is due to pay out soon? I’ve seen many people trying to hog machines at casinos that they believe will pay out a jackpot soon. Should I be timing and targeting machines at a casino? To be honest they look a little crazy but are they right?

Connor:

This is a bunch of hogwash. Each spin is a random and independent event. There’s no specific time or sequence that you can count between payoffs. If you win, consider yourself lucky ;). For more info on this, see the “Gambler’s Fallacy”

I have been gambling at my favourite local casino for a while but it has become too much of costly affair. I found out that some of my friends are gambling online but there are others who say that online casinos shouldn’t be trusted. Is this true?

John. K.

Connor:

It all depends on your provider. Trusted casino software leads the industry through top-notch security, fair payouts, and frankly, jolly good gaming experiences. Read more on this here.

Do casinos start rigging games when players win too much?

Lucy .S

No. In reality, casinos aren’t phased about players winning. Why? Winning big does not happen as nearly as often as players winning minimum amounts of money or losing altogether. Also, the house advantage has been built into each game, which means that over time the casino profit is guaranteed by simple mathematics. As with any business there is more profit than losses.

I surely hope that you benefit from me busting these common casino myths that are a plague to the general gambler, dealer and casino business. I pray thee, spread this knowledge!
