The Finnish gambling operator Veikkaus and Austria’s win2day have combined to make gaming history.
The two betting entities have come together to create the industry’s first ever cross-border poker network.
Veikkaus and win2day shake up online poker scene
The joint network will be powered by Playtech. It will use liquidity from the player bases of both Veikkaus and win2day and will feature a range of omni-channel poker products via the dedicated iPoker network. Said network will also be Playtech powered.
A hugely exciting new venue, the launch marks the first time in the world of gaming that two regulated entities have teamed up to share cross-border liquidity.
While much about the deal is impressive, it’s interesting to note that both the Finnish Ministry of Interior and the Austrian Ministry of Finance were quick to give their approval to the liquidity-sharing agreement.
Playtech hail “milestone” agreement
“This is a milestone in poker and the gaming industry,” said Playtech’s ebullient chief operating officer Shimon Akad.
“We’re delighted to be at the heart of yet another industry first, providing two great brands with the leading poker network and a series of leading products that I am confident will prove a huge success going forward.”
