The Premier League London derby spiced up by Yaya Toure versus Lucas Leiva “The key battle” is set to take place on Saturday, 21 November 2015, at City of Manchester Stadium from 7:30 PM. Two Premier League giants will go head-to-head this Saturday, with both teams hoping their key midfield players, Toure and Leiva come out and secure victory for their teams.
Toure Makes a Come Back
Last season, 32-year-old Toure seemed to have fallen out of his form when compared to their title winning in 2013/14 season. After realizing his drop-off in effectiveness last season, Toure seems to have rediscovered his form and helped Man City to sit on top of the Premier League log. While Toure’s return goals may be good news for Man City fans, this midfielder has had only 35 attempts this season, with Philippe Coutinho the only midfielder who has had more attempts than Toure.
Leiva Goes for Gold
Another player who seemed to have enjoyed the start of this season is Liverpool’s 28-year-old Lucas Leiva with 55 attempts. No player in the Premier League has attempted more tackles than Leiva and the Brazilian turned things around after realizing he was seemingly on his way out of Anfield in the summer.
Liverpool’s current longest-serving player Leiva, has covered over 10.4km more per game than Toure (9.2km). Liverpool has never defeated Man City since 2008, however, if Leiva can win the individual battle with Man City’s star, then Liverpool’s record of not defeating Man City may just change.
