The Star Entertainment Group in Sydney has signed a $3 billion Brisbane casino and hotel deal with Queensland government which is set to open in 2022. In July, the Star Entertainment Group who was previously known as Echo Entertainment won a bid to develop the Queens Whart site.
The casino operator wants its new development to attract global audience in the gambling centers of Macau and Singapore. Echo chief executive and managing director, Matt Bekier, announced that the vision was one step closer after signing an agreement with Queensland government. He also added that this new development has promised to deliver positive transformation for the people of Brisbane.
The Rebranding of Hotels and Casinos
The new building which will include 1 100 rooms, residential apartments, a casino, a pedestrian bridge and Treasury Casino and Hotel, is question to additional planning approvals. The Sydney Star casino will be renamed but the new name will be announced in March next year. The new casino in Brisbane will be known as The Star Brisbane when it opens.

During the second half of next year, the Treasury Casino Hotel will be officially known as Treasury by The Star and the Gold Coast Jupiters Hotel and Casino known as The Star, Gold Coast. The existing Treasury Casino and Hotel will be transformed into shops and hotel accommodations which will benefit the people of Brisbane and construction of “The Star Brisbane” casino will begin 2017.
