United States Grand Prix race organisers have invited a 10-time Grammy award winner Taylor Swift in an effort to attract new fans and sell out the October race. The race has been confirmed for 2016 after the Austin race was in doubt because of funding challenges.
Swift, whose fifth album ‘1989’ sold 1.287 million copies in its debut week last year, will have a Taylor Swift concert as part of race weekend after qualifying on 22 October.
Bobby Epstein, Circuit of the Americas chairman, said in order to keep up the calendar for the fifth year, it was essential to the organisers to sign up Swift. He further noted by asking this question “How do we expand our audience? That’s what this headliner does.” In the past, they have chosen headlines that are a great match with their existing demographic, but they don’t need their existing demographic alone. They need the future. They think they will sell every ticket that they got and it’s because of the combination of both the singer and Formula 1. This wll be a hey day for every american sports betting fan for sure!
Bad weather hit the Grand Prix revenues
Due to flooding last season, Saturday’s final practice was held behind closed doors and qualifying was postponed until the following day after the fans were admitted. As a result, the race’s revenues were affected drastically.
