Novak Djokovic, world number one, defeated Roger Federer to earn his second US Open and 10th Grand Slam title.
28 year old, Djokovic, kept his spirit in front of pro-Federer fans at Flushing Meadows in New York, United States. The Serb came first with 6-4 5-7 6-4 6-4 and will end this year with three of the four tennis majors.
In a rough night encounter at Arthur Ashe Stadium, the start of play was postponed by more than three hours because of rain. Federer seemed to have a real possibility in the third set. Nonetheless, Djokovic broke the Federer work six times and rescued 19 of 23 break points as he fought his way to a 27th victory in 28 Grand Slam competitions this year.
A Delightful Year for Djokovic
