Since Great Britain voted to exit the European Union, there has been plenty of uncertainty with how the next few months and years will play out. The effect of this uncertainty hasn’t been limited to Great Britain, as Gibraltar is unsure as well. This week the Gibraltar Minister of Financial Services and Gaming attempted to lessen the fear with regards to Brexit’s impact on the region.
Gibraltar says business as usual
The Minister has come out and said that it is currently business as usual for the operators based in the area. After the historic Brexit vote last month, nobody has been quite sure how the whole situation is going to play out and this made the Gibraltar operators very nervous and uncertain.
The bad news is that this uncertainty is not likely to disappoint any time soon as there are still months, if not years, of negotiations that need to take place between Britain and the EU before the actual withdrawal from the Union will take place. Not to mention the potential General Election in Britain that could be happening soon.
Gibraltar Ministry hopeful for future
Thankfully the Ministry hasn’t remained silent on the issue and has moved to calm fears by saying that it is still business as usual and it is fully committed to working with all operators based in Gibraltar, as well as the Gibraltar Gaming and Betting Association. This will help ensure that the market continues to receive the right support and can continue to grow.
There is some more good news for the region as well, with several different operators confirming their intentions to remain in the region, including saying that they’ll be increasing the sizes of their offices, or leasing new office space. On top of this, there are even some operators that have said they’re still looking at relocating parts of their companies to Gibraltar, even with the current uncertainty.
