Gateway Casinos to invest $45M into West Edmonton Mall

Tony Santo, CEO of Gateway Casinos & Entertainment announced on Wednesday that the Palace Casino will be rebranded and improved as the new Starlight Casino Edmonton. The new project is estimated to create more than 300 jobs and an additional $45M will be invested in the West Edmonton Mall for growing the economy.

Features of the new casino

The new casino is scheduled to open in 2016; the expansion features a 115 000 square feet entertainment space, doubling the existing one. There will be a plethora of new entertainment and dining options, as well as an expanded gaming floor with 34 table games, and 850 slot machines. It will also include Gateway’s newest signature restaurant, a Supper Club that will provide live entertainment, a Noodle Bar, a Buffet and Atlas Steak & Fish. Combined with all these changes, Gateway is set to open another restaurant in Edmonton, Canada, the Match Eatery $ Public House.

Gateway Casinos gives program to help initiatives and students

Gateway will also be partnering with the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), to assist charitable and community initiatives in Edmonton. The NAIT’s GatewayGives program will also help students pursuing careers in hospitality or culinary arts.

An estimated additional 900 jobs will result from the operation of Grand Villa Edmonton and the new Starlight Casino Edmonton and around 4 100 jobs all over Western Canada.  Gateway Casinos $ Entertainment already operates 12 casinos in British Columbia and Alberta, including the new Cascades Casino Kamploops, which opened in August.
