The world’s largest Internet betting exchange, Betfair Group plc, has been announced as the official betting partner of the Spanish football club FC Barcelona. The agreement is effective as of the 1st of July 2016 and will last for the next three seasons.
Under the terms, the two companies will be working together in several areas related to:
- Brand visibility across Camp Nou and La Liga
- Image association rights
- Various digital benefits
- LED system
In addition, Betfair will be given an opportunity to create marketing campaigns and other promotional content.
Betfair and FC Barcelona Thrilled with Deal
Commenting on the three-year global partnership deal, FC Barcelona Vice President of Marketing and Communication, Manel Arroyo, said that they are very happy to have signed an agreement with the gambling operator as the company has established itself as the sports betting leader. Mr. Arroyo further pointed out that the sporting experience and unique promotions will be coming as part of the global sponsorship and will be appreciated by football fanatics.
Paul Gambrill, Betfair Marketing and Brand Director, said that they are very pleased to be partnering with one of the biggest football clubs, as this will assist them implement their strategy to grow the company’s brand internationally. He further noted that they are looking forward to working with Barcelona and offering supporters exciting content, promotions and experiences.
Paddy Power and Betfair Join Forces
Last summer, Paddy Power and Betfair joined forces to form a land-based and online gambling powerhouse, Paddy Power Betfair. The combined business is valued at £6 billion with 600 betting shops across Ireland and the UK. Paddy Power Betfair is one of the world’s top three online gambling providers.
According to reports, Paddy Power Betfair produced revenue of £339 million in its first quarter after the merger, whereby 95% of the revenue came from regulated markets.
