Barcelona coach, Luis Enrique blames himself following a shocking Champions League exit. Barcelona was knocked-out of the Champions League losing 3-2 on an aggregate score to Atletico Madrid who won the second leg 2-0 at Wednesday’s quarterfinal.
How Barcelona Lost the Champions League
Barca entered the game 2-1 ahead of Atletico Madrid from the first leg at the Camp Nou, but Griezmann Antoine’s 36th-minute header turned the table around and put Atletico forward on away goals. Barca pushed very hard, but Neymar, Luis Suarez, and Lionel Messi were finding it difficult to score goals.
Enrique, who admitted guilt for Champions League exit, congratulated Atletico Madrid on their victory. He also said he is 99.9% to blame, as the coach he is the most responsible. He concluded by saying Atletico took advantage of their mistakes and got ahead on the scoreboard.
Lionel Messi failed to score in his fifth game in a row for Barcelona. This is the third time in 11 years that Barcelona failed to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League. They are three points ahead of Atletico in the La Liga scoreboard. Barca has only won one game in all of their past four games in all football competitions.
