An Australian business man James Packer has confirmed that his Sydney project; Bangaroo Casino has been delayed. Speaking at his new Studio City Casino and resort in Macau, he labeled the project as the most important project on his list. He added by saying, nothing is more imperative than Crown Sydney in his business life; it will be the most costly building of his collection and the team wants to make it special.
Disagreements Lead to Delay
The Sydney Barangaroo Casino was initially aimed to open in November 2019. A payment disagreement last year between the New South Wales government and his casino partner Lend Lease is believed to have caused the delay in the development. And also waiting for the approval of an application to allow environmental remediation works to start on the site.
The Expected Time Line of the Bangaroo Casino Launch
Last week Packer met with New South Wales Premier Mike Baird. The latest time period which the Bangaroo Casino Project was expected to open was 2020. Packer said it’s important that they now start with the project since they have announced Sydney and would hate this leg of the casino chain to be the last to open.
His new $4.5 billion casino Studio City opened in Macau last night with help from the likes of Hollywood stars, Mariah Carey, Leonardo DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro. Packer’s new love Mariah Carey also gave a special performance by singing at the opening ceremony.
