Some may call it predictable, some may be saddened by the venture, but Full Tilt and PokerStars are finally set to merge. There has been a lot of speculation surrounding this topic in recent history within the poker community and finally, suspicions have been confirmed. The merger is said to get underway within the next few months, taking place sometime during spring. This merger was recently confirmed by OnlinePokerReport’s Chris Grove who stated; “I don’t know if I’d say inevitable, but it was always on the table,” in an interview with PokerNews.
The History of Full Tilt
There was a time in which Full Tilt – previously known as Full Tilt Poker – were rivalling PokerStars as an opposing online poker room site. The Full Tilt team were incredibly innovative with new ideas always flooding the table. For example, the site was the first to introduce the Rush Poker, a fast fold variation of poker which other poker rooms have now adopted. This site was also the first to introduce the concept of a multi-entry tournament. Although bringing pure gold to the table, the sites traffic began to dwindle in recent months. The site steadily began to slide with regards to their traffic rankings and soon fell out of the top ten online poker sites league according to PokerScout.
The Merger to Change Online Poker as we Know It
This is what fuelled the speculations as to whether they would join with Amaya’s PokerStars, and of late, this has been confirmed as being true. This merger may form one of the most powerful poker rooms online, and based on both site’s individual success and innovation; we at Casino UK cannot see why this would not be true. We shall see in the months to come what this merger holds for all but all round, it is definitely an exciting time within the online poker world.
