Football Association Charges Leicester’s Jamie Vardy Over Dismissal

Leicester City Striker Jamie Vardy has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association following an extended suspension during the Premier League title match. 29-year-old Vardy was given a red card after a squabble with referee, John Moss, in Sunday’s 2-2 draw match with West Ham.

Leicester club has also been charged with failing to control their players after West Ham was awarded an 83rd-minute penalty. Leicester and Vardy have until Thursday 18:00 to respond.

Vardy’s red card changed the game. Vardy, who has scored 22 goals this season, was given a second yellow card for diving. He confronted referee Moss who was criticised by the match of the day commentator Alan Shearer for his performance.

Vardy, who is also an England national team striker and winger, receives an automatic one-match suspension for his dismissal, but following a charge by FA, his suspension is more likely to be increased.

Last month, Chelsea striker Diego Costa was fined £20,000 and given a two-month suspension for improper conduct towards Everton Midfielder, Gareth Barry. 27-year-old Costa was punished for making an inappropriate gesture to the home support and was ruled out of the 2-2 draw with West Ham United and a trip to Aston Villa.

Last year September, Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista was also given a one-month suspension and fined £10,000 after admitting to a charge of improper conduct.

Will Leicester City win the Premier League title?

Leicester City who are Premier League leaders, need only 8 points to guarantee the championship from their last four matches. In their last four matches, they will be up against Swansea, Manchester United, Everton and Chelsea.
