Construction Of A New Casino In Mackinaw City Begins

Local media has reported that construction work of a new casino in Mackinaw City has begun. The new gambling hub is expected to be completed in May and launch within 6 months. The new Tribal Casino located on sovereign land owned by the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians will feature Class II gaming options.

Tribal Casino officials have stated that if they had been authorized to build a Class III gaming hub, they could have contributed 6% of the facility’s revenue to the Michigan’s state and 2% to the Mackinaw City. But as things stand now, they will not be able to share their gambling revenue with Mackinaw City since it’s a Class II casino which only features bingo and pull tables games.

The Tourist Card to be Pulled in Mackinaw City

Although Mackinaw City casino will not offer games like roulette and baccarat, it’s still expected to attract tourists and gamblers from across the globe. When the casino opens, it will offer 64 gaming machines with more machines to be added in the following years. Tribal Casino officials stated that their five-year plan includes adding a RV Park as well as more games if the venue becomes a popular casino destination for tourists and gamblers.

Mackinaw City Village Council members said that in the long run, Tribal Casino officials may be allowed to run a full-scale casino if everything goes well.
