Lionel Messi Get His Fifth Ballon d’Or

Barcelona and Argentina striker Lionel Messi won his fifth Ballon d’Or award for the world’s best player over Neymar Jr. and Cristiano Ronaldo. 28-year-old Messi had 41.33% votes which put him in the first place, followed by Real Madrid and Portugal striker Cristiano Ronald with 27.76% (second place) and his team-mate and Brazil striker Neymar Jr. with 7.86% (third place).

He played 61 games with Barcelona in the past year. Over this time he managed to score 52 goals and set up 26 assists. He scored a goal every 101 minutes and an assist every 202 minutes. His best minutes per goal rate is 80. Messi also played in the La Liga where he managed to score 34 goals and 15 assists.

Ronaldo scored 57 goals including a record of 16 goals in the Champions League which was not enough to make him win a fourth Ballon d’Or award. Messi’s team-mate Neymar was the first Brazilian to finish in the top three with 7.86% of the vote since Kaka won his award in 2007. 23-year-old Barcelona striker Neymar scored 45 goals in 62 games. He and his team-mate Luis Suarez were the top goal scorers with 15 goals in this season of La Liga.
