In a joint venture, the federally recognized Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and the Mohegan Tribe, who own Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun respectively, have secured approval from the U.S. Department of the Interior on March 21, 2019, for Tribal Winds Casino. This gaming establishment is projected to rise on the site of the former Showcase Cinema in East Windsor, conveniently located off Interstate 91 and just a short drive from downtown Hartford, Connecticut.

Reports indicate that the casino is slated to open 18-24 months after construction commences. Guests can anticipate a state-of-the-art gaming experience similar to what the operators offer at their established Connecticut venues. Additionally, visitors can look forward to premier live entertainment and exquisite dining options. The casino will encompass 100,000 square feet of gaming space, featuring 1,800 slot machines and 60 table games, which include 10 dedicated poker tables, based on the most recent information available.
