Grand Sierra Resort and Casino

The Grand Sierra Resort in Reno is on the verge of a significant $1 billion expansion, centred around a cutting-edge multipurpose arena. This new venue, seating 10,000 guests, will boast luxury suites, hospitality clubs, a wide range of dining options, and a year-round community ice rink. To accommodate the expected increase in guests, the project will also introduce a parking structure with space for 2,400 vehicles.

The expansion plans include an 800-room hotel tower and upgrades to the resort’s golf facilities, featuring a picturesque walking path at the Grand Bay driving range. Covering approximately 300,000 square feet, the arena is set to become a top location for concerts and sporting events alike. Construction is scheduled to commence on September 30, 2025, with completion anticipated in late summer 2027.

Located about three miles east of Downtown Reno, Nevada, the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino—previously known as MGM Grand Reno, Bally’s Reno, and Reno Hilton—offers nearly 2,000 guest rooms and suites. This includes the prestigious AAA Four Diamond A Tower, the Summit Tower, and the Concierge Tower. The venue also provides 200,000 square feet of meeting and convention facilities. The gaming area, the largest in northern Nevada at 100,000 square feet, features 1,200 slot machines, 47 table games, a poker room with seven tables, the Infinity High Limit Room, and a Race & Sports Book, which includes the extensive 14,200 square foot William Hill Sports Book.

Guests can enjoy a diverse array of amenities, including the Grand Theatre, with a capacity exceeding 2,500, acclaimed as the top entertainment venue in Reno-Tahoe. The vibrant nightlife at the extraordinary LEX Nightclub, more than a dozen dining options including Charlie Palmer Steak and Lounge, a spa, branded retail outlets, a year-round outdoor pool and fire pit area, Reno’s largest outdoor ice skating rink, a two-screen cinema, and a 50-lane bowling centre, all add to the appeal. Visitors can also experience thrilling rides and an aqua golf driving range.
