Derby City Gaming & Hotel

Derby City Gaming Hotel, managed by the Kentucky-based Churchill Downs Incorporated, is situated on Poplar Level Road, conveniently close to the Watterson Expressway and about a 15-minute drive from downtown Louisville, Kentucky. After undergoing a $76 million expansion, culminating in the spring of 2023, the now 228,000-square-foot venue boasts an extended gaming floor and a new five-story hotel offering 123 rooms, including 14 corner suites and a VIP suite. Guests can enjoy refined-casual dining and a sports bar featuring a live entertainment stage, big-screen TVs, and self-service sports betting kiosks. The casino expansion introduced 200 extra gaming spots, accommodating up to 400 new ones, and includes a VIP gaming area.

The casino provides over 1,300 historical racing machines (HHRs) and a dedicated simulcasting section. While the principal gaming area is non-smoking, there is an 8,000-square-foot patio that welcomes smokers, complete with overhead heaters to accommodate seasonal changes.

Guests can enjoy complimentary non-alcoholic drinks and coffee at multiple drink stations positioned throughout the gaming area. At the heart of the gaming floor lies the Center Bar, surrounded by numerous big-screen TVs, offering a variety of selections, including Bacardi, Bombay Sapphire, and Old Forrester. The two restaurants on-site cater to all tastes with delicious offerings from classic dishes to spicy chicken.

The gaming venue is strictly for those aged 21 and over.

Additionally, Churchill Downs Incorporated is set to introduce a new venture, Derby City Gaming Downtown, a 43,000-square-foot historical racing machine entertainment venue, in 2023. Located in the heart of downtown Louisville at 140 South 4th Street, at the intersection of South 4th and West Market, it is conveniently situated across from the Kentucky International Convention Center.
