Barstow Casino and Resort

The Los Coyotes Band of Cahuilla and Cupeno Indians continue to await the final decision regarding their proposed Barstow Casino project. The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) released the final environmental impact statement for this initiative two years ago, but the tribe is still waiting for a response. A revenue-sharing agreement of 4.3 percent was made with the City, which is anticipated to earn more than $4 million in the casino’s first year of operation.

Situated on a 23-acre plot along I-15, the main route from Southern California to Las Vegas, the Barstow Casino and Resort will be positioned in Barstow, California.

The Los Coyotes Band and the City of Barstow forecast that $160 million has been dedicated to the project. It’s expected to generate over 1,065 construction jobs and more than 1,000 permanent positions.

The Barstow Casino will provide a gaming space of 57,000 square feet, featuring 1,325 slot machines and 57 table games. The resort will boast a 100-room hotel with contemporary amenities, including dining and entertainment options, conference and meeting room facilities, among other features.

The application is under review by the BIA in Sacramento. However, even with BIA’s approval, the final decision lies with the state governor, whose inability to authorise off-reservation gaming directly impacts the Los Coyotes’ proposal.
