The UK National Lottery operator, Camelot, has announced that it’s currently adding Quick Response Code also known as QR scanning codes to UK National Lottery tickets. The service will allow players to immediately check their lottery numbers by scanning the QR codes using mobile devices. Camelot further stated that they are currently making final amendments to its QR scanning product, which would be available on the mobile platform.
The QR codes will be added to draw based game tickets and its conglomerate oppositions EuroMillions, Hotpicks, and Thunderball.
With a ticket scanning program almost completed, the company will now be focusing on improving its digital product inventory. Its digital services revenues have done well for the year 2015, showing a strong player commitment and hitting the £3 billion revenue mark with its GameStore instant-play range.
According to SBC News, Tim Copper, Digital Director of Camelot, said the service has been introduced to the National Lottery due to customer feedback with regards to the company’s mobile offering. He further added that the new QR scanning codes service will be supported by a reasonable UK marketing campaign.
QR codes are blocks of smaller black and white squares which are read by a mobile device’s or smartphone’s image sensor and then translated by the system processor.
