Stuart Broad and James Anderson gave England a better start of the third and final Test against Pakistan in Sharjah. The hosts were bowled out for 234, Broad took 2-13 and Anderson 4-17. Before England closed the match on 4-0 from 2-overs, Misbah-ul-Haq was resisting with 71-runs.
England all-rounder, Ben Stokes, left the pitch after acquiring a shoulder injury. He was injured whilst valiantly trying to catch Ahmed’s ball and landed on the field with his right arm.
England relied heavily on the Broad and Anderson partnership for control and influence. Their partnership returned figures of 28, 1-15 and 30-6. Broad’s five successive maiden overs were followed by Anderson’s four overs for 2-runs.
Broad had Malik Shoaib caught by Jonny Bairstow and Anderson went over Khan’s leg from Ali in the third-over. It was too late for Pakistan when captain Misbah tried to reverse the game momentum by dismantling the spinners. Broad and Anderson finally returned to execute Pakistan’s residence. Broad had Shan caught, before Anderson did the same for Ali and captain Misbah.
Broad and Anderson have done unbelievable work by putting England in a very strong position on Day 1 of their third and final Test.
