The latest wagering software firm to be granted a remote gambling license from the UK Gambling Commission is Metric Gaming LLC. This will enable the provider to continue its operations in the UK online gambling industry.
After the shakeup in the country’s regulation system, Metric Gaming had to obtain a UK Gambling Commission license. November last year, the new legislation required all operators providing online services to British residents to possess a license from the UK Gambling Commission, whereas previously it used to be enough to hold a license with an offshore online gambling jurisdiction.
Douglas Mishkin, senior vice president of legal affairs with Metric Gaming believes that acquiring a license was a vital step “to demonstrate to the market our commitment to regularity compliance”; furthermore Mishkin said that the licensing approval was “a testament to the integrity of our business and products.”
The CEO of Metric, Peter Bertilsson understands that “the UK is of course a critical market for Metric”, as it is home to millions of sports bettors. By obtaining a license, Metric can now “continue to provide the UK market with cutting-edge innovation”. Of course, the software provider will face a challenge breaking through in a highly competitive marketplace.
